Firm bottom cushion, back is a bit softer but still firm enough you don't sink into it too much. It's lightweight and has solid metal supports in the seat framing. Be aware the cushions do not have any way to tie or attach them to the base, I added straps so the back cushions don't fly off in the wind. Enjoying it enough that to me it's worth any of the few cons for the low to moderate cost of the chair.
